By adding robots to take over human work, the grocery and retail industry hopes to eliminate the challenges of physical locations, and “[improve] the overall customer experience and/or convenience.” Walmart recently patented self-driving shopping carts that can retrieve products, check inventory, and connect with consumers, and Lowe’s has announced the addition of LoweBots, multi-lingual, customer assistance bots.
