Millennials are going minimal. As we highlighted in our Less Is More trend, young consumers are more into “the style of life than the stuff of life,” and according to a Harris Poll survey, 78% of 18-34-year-olds “would rather pay for an experience than material goods.” The decluttering trend has been a major threat to retail, but many entrepreneurs have found ways to cash in. Startup Cladwell works with consumers to free up their wardrobes of unneeded items, and travel accommodations company Getaway is letting consumers try out tiny living in their very small cabins for $99 a night.
