Millennials are a generation of “work martyrs.” Project: Time Off's new study revealed that 43% of 19-35-year-olds have skipped out on vacation time at work, compared to only 29% of all workers. Their top reasons for leaving PTO on the table are to show complete dedication to their job (30%), to not feel guilty about using paid time off (27%), and to not be seen as replaceable (27%). Millennials in management positions are also more likely not to approve vacation time from their direct reports: 47% say that company pressure has stopped them from approving time off, compared to only 34% of Gen Xers and 37% of Boomers.
