The classic Polaroid has been reinvented for the 21st century. Polaroid Swing is an app that captures one-second moments, much like other GIF-making apps, but sets itself apart with “shots [that] are crisp and clear, with a sense of depth.” It’s also all about the experience: when viewing images, twisting the phone to the left will make it play backwards and twisting to the right will make it go forward. According to investor Biz Stone, the app “has the potential to change the way we think about images, just like Twitter’s 140 characters changed how we think about words.” They’re competing in a crowded photo app space, but believe the Polaroid name will give them a boost.
