In what people are calling “a direct move against YouTube,” Amazon has launched a program for user-generated videos. Amazon Video Direct is reportedly intended for “professionals,” and will allow creators to earn money from royalties and advertising based on the minutes the video is streamed. In addition, Amazon will give out monthly bonuses to creators that earn the highest customer engagement. Video developers will have access to their analytics, as well as options like allowing people to stream, download, rent, or buy their videos. (Business Insider)
