Rather than going to galleries or museums, Millennials are turning to Pinterest and Instagram to discover art. A recent study by Invaluable—an online auction house—revealed that almost half of 18-24-year-olds, and about a third of 25-34-year-olds, find new art through social media channels. This is not surprising news to the art world, which has been shifting to the online space as early as the late ‘90s. Invaluable, which launched in 2009, has three million unique visitors monthly, and 40% of its traffic is through mobile. But museums and art galleries won’t be going anywhere anytime soon: our Ypulse survey has found that 56% of 13-33-year-olds visit museums at least once per year. (Adweek, Invaluable)
