Look out Shake Shack, there’s another contender in the fast-casual race for Millennials. Smashburger’s founder wanted to create the “burger for the next generation,” and has plans to take over the burger business. The chain currently has locations in 32 states, and uses a “smasher” to smash patties into the grill for 10 seconds, a process that sets the brand apart from the rest of the competition. Of course, for customization-obsessed young consumers, they also offer the ability to create a wide variety of burger variations, like the buffalo and blue-cheese burger. (Business Insider)
