Middle and high school students are increasingly swapping cigarettes for e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes were the most commonly used tobacco product among middle and high school students for the past two years, and the number of reported users increased by 540,000 from 2014 to 2015. Usage has skyrocketed among high school students in particular: the amount of high schoolers who used e-cigarettes in 2011 was 1.5%, and in 2015 it was 16%. Cigarette usage has declined between 2011-2015 among the age groups, but studies have shown that the health effects of e-cigarettes are similar to those of cigarettes. (Mashable)
