U.S. high school dropout rates are dropping. A new study found that the number of dropouts has declined from 1 million in 2008 to 750,000 in 2012. The findings align with recent graduation rates, which had risen steadily, with 81% of the class of 2013 graduation on time. However, it is noted that some of the improved graduation numbers “stemmed at least in part from an easing of requirements.” (Washington Post)
