Forget about talking in the lunchroom, teens today make their friends on the internet. According to Pew research, 57% of 13-17-year-olds have made new friends online, with the majority of those finding friends through social media and online gaming. However, only 20% have met their online friends in person, so “most of these friendships stay in the digital space.” When talking to all their friends, texting is the most dominant form of communication for young consumers.
