Broadcast radio is becoming increasingly endangered as Millennials and teens fuel the growth of music streaming services that provide them the curated and varied music collections they want, when they want them. Internet radio listeners skew young, with 69% of 12-24-year-olds saying that they listen on a weekly basis, compared to 50% of 24-54-year-olds and only 18% of those over age 55. Pandora is the most popular service, with iHeartRadio, Spotify, and iTunes Radio following behind. But 90% of 12-24-year-olds say they use YouTube to listen to music, contributing to some of the streaming service shakeups we’ve been seeing. (MediaPost)
