Are you a DUFF? That’s “Designated Ugly Fat Friend” to the uninitiated, and apparently “if you don’t know who it is, it’s probably you.” To promote the upcoming teen movie The DUFF, set to release this Friday, AMC movie attendees across the country were asked to admit to being the DUFF by using the film’s mirror promotional posters to submit their selfies. Thousands reportedly sent in their pictures for possible inclusion in the film’s fan poster, a huge composite of self-declared DUFFs. The campaign is the latest example of a brand leveraging selfies in an attempt to appeal to young consumers. and it looks like those who participated were enthusiastic about their selfies being put in the spotlight.
