A 2014 Ypulse monthly survey found that 70% of 13-32-year-olds would rather be the source of information about breaking news to friends than be informed by a friend. But the current events they need to know are not always easy to keep up with, so mobile startups are reimagining the way the news is delivered to them. New app Timeline displays a feed of breaking stories from the day, categorized into sections like technology, business, and culture, and saves articles for offline reading. But the app’s real draw is the context it provides: the history (no matter how long) behind each story is included to give users background and clarity, and make them feel even more well informed.
