Video games are blamed for a lot of things (contributing to the obesity epidemic, violence, etc.) but they could also have positive impacts. Recent research has found that playing action video games, “even twitchy mainstream ones,” can help improve learning capabilities. It’s not yet clear exactly how they help improve perception and learning, but parents with kids who spend hours gaming can take comfort in the idea that it might be making them a little bit smarter.
