Lying about your age was once considered the realm of the old, but these days young consumers have plenty of digital reasons to fib about their birthdays. A study in the U.K. found that 83% of 11-15-year-olds whose internet usage was monitored had used a false age to register on social media sites. 40% of them claimed to be over 18, which means that they were likely targeted by some inappropriate ad content.
