Guardians of the Galaxy is the superhero movie Millennials want right now, and apparently the album that they want as well. The film’s soundtrack, Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is currently No.1 on the Billboard 200—especially notable because the entire album is comprised of hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s. The music was a big part of the successful use of nostalgia in the film, and echoes many Millennials’ experiences: being introduced to classics they love thanks to their mom and dads, and happily adopting their parents’ favorites as their own.
