Why aren’t Millennials buying houses? The reasons are debated, but one recent survey may help shed some light on the issue. 49% of 18-29-year-old renters say that not being able to afford a down payment is holding them back, and only 14% say they actually prefer renting over the idea of owning. Since many do have dreams of a house in their future, we could see Millennials embracing smaller houses out of financial necessity, and becoming “the tiny house generation.” (Slate)
