Due to the ongoing concerns with kids’ online privacy, the Federal Trade Commission is updating its Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA) rules beginning July 2013. As part of the revised regulations, kids’ apps and websites will have to obtain parents’ permission before collecting photos, videos, or location information, and before tracking kids' online behavior and sharing it with other companies.
