Gen Z is interested in internships even after they graduate college.

Gen Z is interested in internships even after they graduate college. According to Google search data from Semrush, “search interest around the question ‘Can you do internships after graduation?’ increased by 1,850% between January 2021 and March 2023.” During this period of time, entry level jobs took a hard hit because of the pandemic, so it makes sense that Gen Z was looking for other ways to boost their experience in the meantime. And while the search for internships is still going strong, their desire to land one in big tech has dwindled as more consider “stability with stakeholders across manufacturing, retail and banking.” For example, economic instability may be the top reason behind the fact that accountant internships were the top searched for—after all, YPulse data shows inflation is the biggest problem Gen Z and Millennials say their generations are facing. Behind that, the other most searched for internships include graphic designer, mechanical engineer, and psychologist, in that order. (CNBC)
