Toys R Us is starting up again in the U.K. After filing for bankruptcy and shuttering 100 retail locations in the U.K. in 2017, Toys R Us is planning to re-establish its presence in the region just in time for holiday shopping. Online sales will start soon while brick-and-mortar stores will begin opening their doors throughout 2022 and 2023. YPulse’s WE holiday shopping survey found that Millennial parents in Western Europe are planning to do their holiday shopping early this year, and 57% say they want to buy their kids anything they want for the holidays to make up for a hard year. Meanwhile, the pandemic-related global shipping crisis has led to a toy shortage in the U.K., and parents are already panicking over their kids’ must-have gifts, making a new (but familiar) toy retailer a welcome addition.
