Speaking of streetwear, the OG ugly shoe is back with a fresh line of kicks. Designed by Isabel Marant, the Bekett is a high-heeled wedge sneaker that captured the hearts of stylistas in the late 2000s. Back for a second round, Marant just launched a new line of ugly kicks—the Balskee—that are twice the price and heel height of the original, and come in what she describes “Lego colors,” a.k.a. red, yellow, green, black, and white. The Bekett tapped into streetwear culture before it was a trend, and as ugly everything (shoes, food, aesthetics, you name it) continues to attract young people, Balskee kicks are an ode to Marant’s original take on the chunky, ugly shoe.
