Teens are in for a sweet summer filled with job opportunities.

Teens are in for a sweet summer filled with job opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the share of 16-19-year-olds who work rose to 33.2% in May (the highest it’s been since 2008), marking a significant increase from the record-low 20% employment rate among teens last April. Businesses like restaurants and hot-weather entertainment spots (golf clubs, resorts, swimming pools, you name it) are relying on young workers to stay afloat during this year’s busy summer. Some employers who are facing labor shortages have raised wages to recruit more young people and are hoping that school being out of session will cause a big boom in summer employment for teens.
