Sephora is ready for a social commerce boom in the U.S. Social media shopping is slowly growing in the U.S., and it’s predicted to reach $36 billion this year across all social platforms, with Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok being the biggest producers. Soon after Instagram enabled digital storefronts for businesses, Sephora launched an Instagram shop to its 20 million followers. Since then, the beauty retailer has been amping up its social shopping efforts through livestreamed events to get people more comfortable using social media as a shopping channel. YPulse’s latest social media monitor data shows that 87% of 13-39-year-old social media users believe social media can be a place to find products or services to buy, and China’s social commerce market is expected to exceed $300 billion.
