Gen Z has spoken and says they will pay extra on streaming services to avoid “annoying” ads. According to a Deloitte study, Gen Z is even more annoyed with ads on video streaming services than older generations, with 27% saying they’re irritating, compared to 24% of Millennials and 23% of Gen X. In fact, 48% of Gen Z and 46% of Millennials say they would pay to avoid ads on streaming. YPulse’s Media Consumption report found that 52% of Gen Z and 62% of Millennials are currently paying for an online streaming account, and 70% of 13-39-year-olds use streaming services to avoid ads. While cost remains an important factor for young consumers when choosing what services they’ll pay for, they’re definitely also considering what platforms provide them an ad-free experience.
