Young renters are finding their “dream apartments” on TikTok. Sure, platforms like Zillow, Compass, Trulia, and Craiglists have been popular places for apartment hunters. But lately, real estate and brokers have joined the slate of professions getting on TikTok to reach their young user base—and have accumulated thousands of followers in the process. The social app has “an edge” over real estate sites thanks to its commenting feature, which can create a community and conversations about the listings. According to one agent, “a large chunk” of his clients are renters in their 20s “who are living with their parents during the pandemic and looking to move out.” However, some real estate sites are starting to catch on: StreetEasy has their own TikTok account proving that “the real estate industry at large is capitalizing on the opportunity to adapt to the changes the pandemic has forced on the industry.” (CNN)
