Gen Z is getting hit the hardest by job losses during the pandemic.

Gen Z is getting hit the hardest by job losses during the pandemic. As the pandemic goes on, Gen Z’s employment continues to become heavily impacted, and according to the Economic Policy Institute, 16-24-year-olds are most likely to be unemployed or underemployed because of COVID. They’re also the least likely to have the ability to work from home, since older generations have a “higher probability” of working in industries that have been hit hard by the pandemic. Prior to the outbreak, Gen Z already had a “higher-than-average” unemployment rate at 8.4% in April, May, and June of last year, but it jumped to 24.4% this spring. Meanwhile, unemployment rates for those 25-years-old and up was 2.8% pre-pandemic and rose to 11.3% this year. (CNBCRefinery29)
