Starting Sunday, TikTok downloads will reportedly be blocked in the U.S.—but there’s still hope for the platform. Despite Oracle’s becoming a “trusted tech partner” with TikTok, the government is putting pressure on the company with an announcement that starting on Sunday, mobile users will be prohibited from downloading TikTok. But the app will still work, and the “shut down” of services keeping the platform going has been pushed to November 12th, after the election—giving “TikTok a reprieve as it continues to negotiate a deal in hopes of starving off the full ban.” During the ongoing drama, TikTok use has continued to grow among young consumers, but if the November ban is in fact real, we could see them flocking to other platforms.
