A new (early) shopping holiday is being created by retailers this year. We told you a quarter of young consumers would appreciate if brands released holiday deals earlier than usual this year because of COVID, and it looks like the shopping season will be kicking off way before Black Friday. According to the Berkeley Research Group, 10/10/2020 “will be a significant date to launch” the season. The company alluded to the marketing benefits of “repeating numbers”: Alibaba hosts Singles Day in China on 11/11. “More than a dozen” retailers are reportedly rallying around the date, with partner Shopkick launching a 10.10 website to create early shopping demand and avoid late-season shipping and stock issues.
