Teens are routinely “cleaning up” their Instagram feeds to maintain their image. In order to put their “best face forward” and avoid getting haunted by past posts, young users are constantly trimming and deleting content from their Instagram feeds—sometimes within just hours or days of posting it—to keep a clean and current image of themselves. In some cases, they’ll manage multiple private and public accounts. For young adults, Instagram almost serves as a résumé, and they view themselves as “brands” with specific target audiences, whether it’s a potential college, job, or boyfriend. (WSJ)
