Social media is increasing teen eating disorders, according to experts. A study published in the International Journal of Eating Disorders reports that seventh and eighth graders who spend 30 minutes a day on social media can have increased anxiety, depression, loneliness, and overall poor self-image—which can lead to unhealthy eating. Some experts believe selfie culture, edited images, and curated photos of vacations, new hairstyles, and clothes are increasingly leading young users to look at themselves “through the eyes of other people.” (Forbes)
