Sony is shutting down its streaming service and Walmart is looking to sell theirs as SVOD competition gets tough. While Apple, Disney, and WarnerMedia are getting ready to enter the streaming wars, Sony’s Playstation Vue will close up shop in January, with the brand reporting the pay TV industry has been “slower to change than expected.” Meanwhile, Walmart wants to sell its free video streaming service Vudu after nine years. While the company considered pivoting into a subscription service or offering “shoppable” content, sources say “the amount of investment required to turn Vudu around no longer makes sense.” (Vox, The Verge)
