Facebook is launching a dedicated news service tab, and major news corporations are already on board. The New York Times, Fox News, and USA Today-owner Gannett Co. are among the wide range of publishers that have signed up for Facebook News, which will pay licensing fees to its media partners. The service could be a boon to media sources who have long been a part of users’ feeds, without being paid by the platform. YPulse research shows that social media is the top news source among Gen Z and Millennials, and Facebook is the number one social platform that Millennials use to obtain news.
