Started by rapper Megan Thee Stallion, the term means to be “hot” in every sense of the word: you’re physically attractive, enduring high temperatures, and your confidence level’s on fire. Across social media, “hot girl summer” references abound, and yes, brands have already tried (and failed) to take on the trend. Wendy’s, Forever 21, and Maybelline have all made attempts that “are all cringey at best and appropriation at worst.” (Vox)
