Target is opening more small-format stores on college campuses. The retailer is seeing success with scaling down, at colleges and in general. Adapting to the retail wasteland, they reportedly opened over one million square feet of tiny Targets and have 30 new stores planned for the next year. Their SVP explains that the campus locations help them get in front of students who are often shopping on their own for the first time “so they become lifelong guests.” (SN)
