Young people are aware of this surveillance, so more are withholding personal opinions and deleting old posts. Some are even completely replacing old accounts with polished versions, like 19-year-old Malak Silmi, who explains, “I understand the need to censor oneself, but sometimes I don't think it's fair.” (NPR)
