The vegan YouTube community isn’t so kind to its stars. Vegan and vegetarian options are trending with young consumers, so it’s no surprise that a large YouTube community has formed. But a group of people whose first tenant is “Do no harm to others” is surprisingly quick to bully its biggest influencers. Veganism, unfortunately, can become another all-too-restrictive diet, and influencers are expected to follow the latest health trends to a tee. One vegan influencer, Leanne Ratcliff, even deploys her followers (called “fruit bats”) to call out anyone that doesn’t measure up. (The Atlantic)
