Social media can actually be good for kids, according to a new study. The Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study found that there are some benefits to social media use for nine-and-10-year-olds. Those whose time on social media outweighed time spent on other media (like video games) reported better sleep, less conflict with their families, and more physical activity. The study fights back against the narrative that “if we expose kids to media, something terrible is going to happen” by proposing that “not all screen media is bad.” (NPR)
