Smart speakers can’t understand little kids.

Smart speakers can’t understand little kids. The Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple’s Siri all struggle to interpret children’s speech. They were designed for “white, well-educated…native English speaker[s] from the West Coast,” leaving out those with accents or kids who might say “Awexa” instead of “Alexa.” But Amazon has come out with an Echo Dot just for children, which is more forgiving of their errors, paving the way for other inclusive solutions.
