In the age of Amazon, candy brands are getting creative to make up for the loss of grocery checkout impulse buys. Mars Wrigley Confectionary has tested out offering digital gift certificates and stocking Ubers and Lyfts with candy, while Mondelēz is predicting the perfect time to hit people with an ad to trigger a craving-caused click to buy. They’re also adapting to young consumers’ healthy-ish diets by cutting back on calories and sugar with smaller portion sizes. (Ad Age)
