A new social platform is aiming to draw in young users by being less social. Wuu is an app that looks a lot like Snapchat and Instagram but is free of likes, follower counts, influencers, ads, complicated menus, and more importantly large audiences. On Wuu, users can send filtered photos, messages, and audio recordings that last up to 24 hours directly to a “handful” of friends, keeping their sharing private. Founder Paul Budnitz, who also founded the ad-free social network alternative Ello, says he “wanted something different. Something that was beautiful and private that didn’t feel like it was built for an advertiser or data miner.” (WIRED)
