Applying to college has become a struggle for teens without internet access. In 2014, 94% of college applications were submitted online; many colleges don’t have mobile-friendly sites or simple physical application processes. Since applications can take hours to complete, students seeking Wi-Fi at cafes, friends’ houses, libraries, and other spaces have a hard time finding enough time online. Several groups are working to find solutions for these students, such as the Common Application, a shared application accepted at almost 700 colleges.
