A24 and Channel 4’s new Gen Z sitcom might be what audiences have been waiting for.

A24 and Channel 4’s new Gen Z sitcom might be what audiences have been waiting for. It Gets Worse captures the all-too-familiar realities of being in your twenties in London—whether it’s hosting DIY film screenings in Peckham or living in cramped apartments filled with cheap-but-reliable IKEA furniture. Drawing inspo from beloved British comedies like Fresh Meat plus American shows like Insecure, the new comedy builds on the sitcoms that came before it. And unlike other series that try (and fail) to capture young adulthood with outdated references, this series approaches its characters with humor like “an inside joke that the audience is in on.” The show’s arrival could be a welcome change after years of sitcoms that struggle to capture young adults and prestige TV that doesn’t always deliver. Alongside other newer hits like Adults and Overcompensating, this show’s success may signal a new, slightly shinier era of comedy that keeps Gen Z’s experiences on the screen. (British Vogue)
