Twitch is testing a QVC-style shopping category—and so far it’s all Amazon. The new U.S. category gets prime real estate on the homepage, plus its own link in the top nav. Inside, streamers demo everything from Vitamix blenders to faux-leather handbags, with Amazon listings linked right on the page (literally just like QVC). But these aren’t coming from regular Twitch creators; they’re from those in the Amazon Live Program, “wherein creators demo products in exchange for a cut of whatever they manage to sell.” The format has just moved to a bigger stage via Twitch. At launch, six streamers had only 65 viewers combined, but the feature will likely stick around as Amazon tries to keep up with TikTok and Instagram in the social shopping wars. (Kotaku)
