TikTokers are posting everything from videos of literal flowers blooming to positive-thinking content, all with the goal of making scrollers feel happier and more relaxed. “In general, people are becoming more aware that what they consume impacts how they feel,” says Thea Gallagher, clinical associate professor at NYU Langone Health. Negative content grabs attention, which is why doomscrolling can be so addictive. To avoid this happiness suck, she encourages people to alter their algorithm by watching wholesome content, funny memes, or anything that sparks inspiration, creativity, or positive hobbies. But even bloomscrolling can be a time suck, so experts suggest keeping it to a minimum to avoid compulsive scrolling, which still takes away from real-life activities. (Women’s Health)
