Barry from Bee Movie once asked, “Ya like jazz?” And nearly two decades after the film’s release, Gen Z is answering with a resounding yes. On weekends, young adults across cities can be spotted lining up outside jazz clubs. Their interest comes after years of growing enthusiasm for the genre, with Gen Z-loved artists like Raye and Laufey bringing jazz influences to a new generation. JazzTok is only helping fuel the revival, as videos of jazz performers and big bands rack up millions of views. In Gen Z’s eyes, jazz clubs offer something both timeless and timely: intimate performances in historic venues they wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. And that makes them one of the few live experiences worth their time (and money!), especially as concerts and festivals continue to price themselves out of reach for many young people. (Elle)
