And of course, reading has become much more popular with the rise of reading content on social media (hello BookTok), making reading a status symbol for this gen. This viral content may just save the public library: The American Library Association reveals 67% of Gen Z report library visits in recent years, which is actually higher than older generations. And it’s not just avid readers going to the library; many young adults are going for the communal workspaces, community events, and the free technology.
