Digicams are having a moment with teens and young adults (again). YPulse has told you before that Gen Z loves the Y2K aesthetic of non-smartphone pics. And while Camp Snap launched its screen-free camera for kids to take to summer camps that banned screens several years ago, it’s got a new audience. A surge of Gen Z and Millennials are buying the camera—and Camp Snap sales have more than doubled in the past year. Similarly, Canon said sales of its point-and-shoot camera jumped “nearly sevenfold” between 2022-2025. And according to eBay, there’s been a surge in searches for retro tech devices such as iPods, CDs, and Walkmans. YPulse data shows some young people are turning to retro tech as they embrace more deliberate, offline, and authentic memory-keeping experiences—but each piece is niche on its own, including digicams.
