TikTok Shop is inundated with AI-generated products and influencers. The rise of AI posts has become a βhot topicβ among the TikTok Shop team, according to a new report by Business Insider. Some brands that sell on the platform are increasingly using AI to recreate versions of successful influencer posts, while others are using it to flood TikTok with hundreds of videos of their products per month without having to pay creators or send samples at all. While some brands embrace the extra revenue AI content can rake in, other brands are more skeptical and worry it can harm their image, especially since multiple recent surveys point to rising pessimism about AI among young people. AI-generated ads can also deteriorate the quality of an e-commerce marketplace and lead to legal troublesβespecially when bad actors use AI to create fake storefronts for products that donβt even exist.
