Viral TikTok content led to a resurgence in U.K. high streets. New research shows over 10M people visited cafes or shops they discovered on TikTok in 2025. Viral videos on social platforms also spurred domestic tourism last year, with 2.3M additional visits to towns, cities, and attractions in the U.K. Businesses are also turning to the platform, with 300K small businesses now selling items on TikTok Shop. The surge isn’t slowing down: TikTok activity could add £27B to the British economy by 2030, according to the report. YPulse data shows social media is by far the top place that young people in the U.K. find out about new experiences or events—and it’s no secret that viral content can especially influence the destinations young people put on their bucket lists, both locally and abroad.
