Brands are making resale fashion part of the in-store experience, too. Tons of brands have adopted resale programs, although those initiatives have mostly been online for traded in and inspected items. But from PacSun to Faherty, brands have recently brought resale options into their storefronts as secondhand buying becomes their competitor, especially among Gen Z shoppers. PacSun’s Youth Report also found that 33% of Gen Z and Gen Alpha said they look for secondhand versions of pieces they like from fast-fashion brands. Since it launched PS Vintage—a curated selection of pre-loved, one-of-a-kind pieces—in 16 U.S. stores, the brand has seen a 20% sell-through rate at top-performing PacSun locations. YPulse’s Gen Z’s Thrift Shift Trend Report shows that over a third of teens and young adults think more positively of a brand if they offer resale. (Modern Retail)
